Everything below is a time capsule from 2020, left as it was.

Music

My friends and I have been playing in a few bands at various parties, bars, and other functions in Westchester, NY and lower Connecticut. We always appreciate more work. At age 50 my family gave me an electric piano and headphones; nowadays I play keyboards with planB and About Half Dead, and with others who prefer to remain invisible.

I'm pretty much the only one left in these bands with any time to dink with our websites — so after many years, they remain a happy work in progress. Everything we've recorded is now collected for planB and About Half Dead. To book either band, email is best.

Family

My own Millennial kids never cared much for code, but my grandkids will have to — so I'm getting ready. I've been shooting a lot of black-and-white wide-angle photography on my phone and posting some of it on Instagram. I've always had an iOS app on the bucket list that would present those photos in a proper full-screen viewer.

Software

I was fortunate to learn to code in Fortran on an IBM 7094 at Columbia University when I was a sophomore in high school. After teaching for a few years at DEC, I had a career in software engineering and management at both big corporations and small start-ups. I've worked on, or as:

Here's a traditional résumé. Over the years I've taken on various software endeavors — I'm no longer working at any of these, but they're part of the story:

Software therapist. I read your team's code. We discuss your system and software problems — you pay only when happy.

Software coach. Some free coaching in my own neighborhood with the new Apple Swift curriculum.

Pro-bono developer for Selfish Software. Projects I selfishly write — mostly for myself and my music friends.

Open source. MedCommons — a mothballed internet radiology cloud service built on AWS (Java, JavaScript, PHP, Objective-C), a runner-up finalist in the 2008 Amazon Cloud Projects — is on GitHub.

I'm both a certified Apple Teacher and a Swift Playgrounds teacher, and I'm eager to explore the new curriculum materials with actual human students who'd like to learn Swift.
